In a paper published on Project Syndicate, Barry Eichengreen and Ruurd Brouwer argue that multilateral development banks should lend in local currency. They call on World Bank shareholders meeting in Paris to change the current practice of lending in dollars and to scale up mechanisms such as TCX.
